A few weeks ago I found some neat growing bouncy balls at Hobby Lobby, and I thought my class would love to try those. So we followed the instructions-add however many small pellets to warm water (which was supposed to make it grow faster), and watch them grow up to 200 times their original size. The kids loved watching the pellets expand into small bouncy balls. Some of the students took theirs home and then brought them back after the weekend to share their growth with the rest of the class. It was a fun way to introduce the Scientific Inquiry model with the students. They guessed how large they might grow, whether they would grow faster in warm or cold water and what they would feel like after they were done.
