This is the time of year that we start doing more hands-on experiments in Science class. The students really enjoyed the Oreo moon phases activity we did earlier in the week. Of course I'm sure it was because they could eat them when they were done.

The students enjoyed a visit from The Goodhope Fire Department. They discussed fire safety, and showed the students how their different tools work.
Glade Top is always a day I look forward to every year. The kids were awesome this year, and the weather was perfect!
I love when the students do their first assignment for the year. It's the Brown Bag Get to Know Me assignment. Students are to bring in 5 items that they care about that will help the other students (and me of course) get to know them better. It's always neat to see what interests the students share and what is special to each one.
We had a blast at Field Day yesterday. The kids played a ton of games, ate too much food, and enjoyed a show from ROAM.
We had a free day in Science on Friday, so we decided to have some fun! The students used baking soda and vinegar to see how the chemical reaction between the two would expand the balloon. They also made Oobleck, which is very messy, but a lot of fun!
The students completed a fun writing activity last week after we came back from Christmas vacation. They made a mobile showcasing their goals and what they will change about their behavior from last year.
We had a blast last week during Red Ribbon Week. The students worked really hard on decorating our door. We also had a fun day on Tuesday, which was the Mix-It Up Day. I taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade one hour, while my class went to their classes. Fun, fun! Then on Friday we had our Halloween party and were entertained by the R.O.A.M. guys. We were sad that we didn't get to see them jumping their ramps, but it was still a great time!
